1/ It’s not about “hype”, or “genuine innovation”, that’s pretty meaningless word play. The Q is whether abandoning NNs in favour of innate symbol proc systems is a good idea for anyone to pursue.

I haven’t read your work, it’s true. I’m basing my statements on tweets of yours, a couple of blog posts, and other quotes I see flying around the internet. So, if I’m unfairly characterizing your opinion, sorry. But I maintain: innate symbol proc isn’t a good strategy.
