#SuperBowlSunday is the biggest day of the year for #avocado consumption, but ours are safely tucked away on the trees. They will be bigger and better in a few months.

Super Bowl, a very American "holiday" is largely supported by avocados from Mexico. California avocados have their big day on Cinco De Mayo.

Is there any reason for this? I am thinking maybe the varieties favored by the growers might be different.

Same varieties, but they mature at a different time depending on location. (Even within CA, San Diego fruit is much earlier than San Luis Obispo.)

And avocado can have a very long harvest window, increasing in oil content while they stay on the tree.
