I think it's all part of the general push YouTube has been doing towards large, mainstream companies and abandoning independent creators. I believe absolutely nothing they claim about caring for creators. CEO made a video saying they believe in "open creativity." My ass they do.
Point was there was an overwhelming outcry from creators not wanting that change. YouTube knows, but there's no response, nothing, just a big FU we're doing it. I personally don't care, but it shows how incompetent they are at responding to the community as a whole.
