I have one that focused on programming (from RIT) and I thought it did a good enough job.
100% Programming =/= game design tho The game design stuff is an absolute joke, and everyone I've interviewed who had a degree either didn't need it because they just had good chops, or were still terrible designers because the paper doesn't mean a thing lol
And watch YouTube videos breaking down game design. So many intelligent people making information entertaining and accessible!!
There is soooooooo much info out there, just gotta dive in and run with it.
Currently trying to do this right now with black ops 3's mod tools. I refuse to spend the money on a degree I could learn from other people and teach myself on. Just need to complete a project 
This is the way :D just keep at it, and keep grinding. Look at it this way, the degree would take a few years to complete...a self motivated person with drive can get a LOT done in a few years lol
I feel like this is the same argument for art school. I went to art school and I have an INCREDIBLE amount of debt. I enjoy my time at art school, I am grateful for everything I got to experience there. But money-wise, not worth at all. I even had a really good scholarship.
I just keep seeing it time and time again. People are absolutely burying themselves in debt, trying to get into the industry. Put out good work, let your portfolio do the talking. People I worked with found out about my degree after I was hired, then gave me crap for it lol
I preach the same thing but for anyone overseas, they don't really have this luxury. Esp if they want to come to the US or Canada. They need that degree for a VISA.
Yeah, there are def some exceptions and scenarios, but whenever possible avoid it like the plague lol
