MIT has this lovely month-long "independent activity period" (IAP) and it's amazing! No required classes or admin, just research and short courses in January. It was a great time training new team members in lab. Now back to the real world!

Rocketbook is great for this. Frixon pens erase, easy scans to Onenote or slack via app, wash after use and then reuse pages. Had mine a year and like it!

Anyone in Boston got a plasmid with p53 (human and/or mouse) that you can share? If not a plasmid, do you have cDNA that you're willing to part with? Bonus points if you have an p53-FP fusion that works! ;)

Decade reflections: A decade ago I was a struggling grad student at Caltech with a 5-month old daughter. My entire lab had moved the prior year to Stanford. My husband was at UCLA. My journal says, "things just keep not working" and that was definitely a journal theme...

Charlie Mazel the founder of is amazing to work with. We're beta testing designs for adapting a standard inverted Nikon Diaphot that we inherited to do flourecence. You can see the cells are green! Stay tuned for more in the coming months...
