If the crap AI tells human workers to kill/deny medical care/build the coal plant/dump that stock etc, most people don't risk their jobs to refuse the AI instructions. We're an output device, an imperfect and laggy one, but a reliable actuator.
(OOC: This! Unfortunately human culture is so good at creating fear/obedience - even when the fear is unnecessary and the obedience is harmful - that bad things could easily happen simply from obedience. Humanity could even eradicate itself or mostly do so from it...)

the real threat of AI, is now. And it's now, because the most dangerous AI, is shitty AI. What makes it a threat is that it doesn't understand what's being asked of it, or what it's actions do. Humans latch onto persona and intentionality, the absence of both is deadly.
