    Thanks, Tim, but not sure about that. The real story of Rome as the republic was failing is complicated, with everyone abusing "norms" for gain. Maybe the author can enlighten us.

    Only thing is I don't like seeing the Gracchi grouped with those others, since the brothers opposed the oligarchs of their day. And kind of died b/c of it.

    This Thursday, Congress will hold a long overdue hearing on congressional insider trading. None of the several reform proposals would fix the problem. At least two major sets of questions have never even been asked, let alone adequately addressed. /1

    so weird to live in a media ecosystem where the Democratic president is wildly unpopular after refusing to honor his promises and yet basically the only people in media who will say anything even mildly critical about his behavior are bad-faith right-wingers on off topic nonsense
