She's looking for a purpose and she listens to Owen's view of the world. It's a simple narrative. We've already seen that but it doesn't matter. I don't have a problem with Abby's narrative, it's Ellie's that I found problematic.

Hm.. it's only after a "good dicking" that Abby really "calms down" & finds her empathy...
But I agree, Ellie's story arc is worse. I guess she couldn't benefit from a good dicking to progress (sorry, I'm really disappointed at the backwards narrative.. too many tropes for me) -
Hmpf, I wouldn't go along with that interpretation. The fact that she felt guilty and felt compelled to do something good after that, to repair her wrongs, really made sense to me. And Ellie is in the same state of mind that Abby was for four years, when she was with Owen.
