She's looking for a purpose and she listens to Owen's view of the world. It's a simple narrative. We've already seen that but it doesn't matter. I don't have a problem with Abby's narrative, it's Ellie's that I found problematic.

I was making a parallel with some men in our society discovering about sexism bc "they have a daughter" as they say. The idea that you need to be personally affected to understand a problem is not what empathy is about. Abby had to experience being "othered" to find her empathy.
