Looks like @verge picked it uphttps://www.theverge.com/2018/2/14/17014116/facebook-2fa-two-factor-authentication-auto-post-replies-status-updates-bug …
Maybe this is a case for @ReplyAll Super Tech Support @PJVogt @AGoldmund
Facebook says it's a bug and they're working on it https://www.facebook.com/notes/facebook-security/fixing-sms-notifications-for-those-using-two-factor-authentication/10155124741945766/ …
Now I don’t get a code texted to me. I guess this is how Facebook “fixed” it.pic.twitter.com/8N6lSlIf2O
Twitter notifications by SMS work like that too
hahaha those wall posts just remind me of r/oldpeoplefacebook
It is also literally a violation of CTIA guidelines for application-to-peer messaging to ignore the "STOP" command.
That's really interesting! I had no idea there were actual regulations against this
well technically they're not regulations... they're an industry association giving itself guidelines, generally something you do to *avoid* actual regulations.... it looks like it's on a shortcode, which should be clear-cut.
Ah, so there's no consequences for ignoring said guidelines? I was assuming maybe it was put under similar regulations as spam emails.
Different since under TCPA, these are not deemed as marketing and FB would argue that these are rather Servicing sms which are needed to function the feature. But one could argue that any sms engagement ploy is a TCPA violation if user revoked it with STOP
Does FB ToS indicate any opt in for TCPA when signing up to use mobile number for 2FA?
You just answered a question I had open this morning, after FB aspired to "engage" me via SMS. Had you deleted the FB app, I'm curious? I had.
I don’t have the FB app
