How many more banks, airliners, steel plants and construction companies do we need to save from collapse with public funds before the Govt admits there is an issue with the way they understand the free market?

Government attacks impartial civil service and diplomats - media: yay! Government attacks independent judiciary and lawyers who take on government - media: yay! Government attacks free press - media: what, we did not see that coming

Fascinating how during the 2016 referendum, it was suggested we should pursue a Norway style relationship with the EU, in 2017 a Canada style relationship and, now, in 2020, an Australia style relationship. Are we just naming rich white countries that are farther and farther?

Rather ironic to be blaming “the shocking influence of lawyers on policy” when much of the failure of the CJS is actually down to the shocking influence of politicians on the law.

Whan on earth is "an Australian style relationship" with the EU? Just call it what it is: No Deal 2.0.

You’d think that politicians who have been in the party of government for the last 10 years might offer us an apology for the way that their treatment of the criminal justice system - police, CPS, courts, legal aid, prisons and probation - has made us all demonstrably less safe.

Quick reminder that Julia was sharing, on social media, the home addresses of QCs after they publicly announced they received death threats. She's no innocent angel, but nasty and vengeful.

There is wide consensus in legal circles that: a. unnecessary custodial sentences ruin people's lives b. British prisons are an expensive way to make bad people worse, but no one victimised or excused terrorists. This is typical reductio ad absurdum from the far-right.

Somehow Labour will again be blamed for this.

Extraordinary that some people think that the UK flag being taken down from a major international organisation is somehow evidence of an increase in international power and influence

This is a big day for people who feel like they personally fought in WW2 despite being born in 1958.

Sure, there's dangerous overcrowding in prisons, the courts are falling down and the criminal justice system is a mess, but the MoJ has time for this shit.

Economic confidence is slipping 💰 Consumer spending has driven economic growth since the Brexit vote 💰 But confidence is fragile, and the economic outlook ahead is markedly worse — the Bank of England on Thursday downgraded its medium-term forecast

Frictionless trade hasn't been on the table since the Political Declaration was agreed and the future relationship defined as an FTA. How is it possible that still hasn't broken through?

The UK is not pursuing frictionless trade with the EU (by the government’s own admission), and it would be nice if journalists stopped saying that.
