Forgot I actually hit publish on this while feeling snippy last month.

I produce open access transcripts of tech, media, and art presentations at Open Transcripts, in part because the people getting funded to produce those things can't be bothered to do it themselves.

If you are eligible for the vaccine, PLEASE go get the vaccine. It may seem counterintuitive but waiting for more “deserving” people is the opposite of what public health officials and ethicists say you should do.

Pandemic parenting is going great yeah thanks for asking. Tonight I got in the shower and washed my hair three times. Not because he got anything in it. But because I kept forgetting I had previously washed it.

.’s explanation of how Taylorism and the technologies that enabled it were designed to crush worker power was one of the most fascinating parts of this episode. He also makes it clear that modern algorithmic work is a further extension of these dynamics.

“Zoom fatigue” is the kind of feeling I have when people fail to meet my access needs. I have to work extra hard to take in information & focus. It’s exhausting & overwhelming. Learn from this & recognise when you’re not meeting the needs of disabled people!

I love showing these doors in history of public health classes. I call them “miasma” doors bc they were supposed to help combat TB by promoting better air circulation within homes. They show us you can design buildings w specific purposes in mind & that design can be accessible.

It's why they keep trying to convince the public that a lot of homeless people don't want help. To make you think the police are needed to deal with it when they really only perpetuate the crisis.

Apropos of nothing, just thinking about Timothy Mitchell's observation that "the economy" was invented in the 1930s and is thus not even hundred years old. Yet we have all been subordinated to ensuring its vitality and autonomy is maintained.
