I’ve never seen a deer herd like this until going to the UP. Eagle River, MI locals feed voracious whitetails in winter. Why? I was told the amount of snow accumulated here makes it harder for them to eat normally. 😆 More pampered than their urban counterparts! @KeweenawCVB

this is common in ND they move into small towns and large farmsteads, have a better wind break, access to planted pines for greens and grain bins. herds often out number residents.

This winter on my trips to Michigan from NC, I saw deer and other wildlife in search of food that was all snow covered and birds trying to eat from center median where snowplow had uncovered a little bit of ground.

Sounds like an excuse. If they were that hungry, with that many deer you’d see a browse line in the trees. Feeding piles put out by well-intentioned do-gooders spread pathogens like CWD
