Do you think their political interests (even excluding religion) would not be served by having nukes? And even more by the world believing they would use them? (regardless if they would or wouldn't). Would that not increase their bargaining power in ANY conflict?
I don't believe they'd attack Israel, as it'd result in the annihilation of Iran. (Despite common perceptions, the majority of people in Iran are not interested in ushering in the apocalypse; Iran is mostly young, secular folks, and soon the old Qom clerics will all be dead.)

With that said, I'm not willing to leave it to chance, so I think the right steps should be taken to ensure Iran doesn't acquire nukes. And the best way to achieve this is to allow its economy to bloom into a secular capitalist country with a Western culture.

This cannot happen if Iran remains stifled under sanctions, unable to modernise its economy and culture. All the sanctions do is strengthen the puritanical, Israel-hating religious elements.

I'm not sure if they would or wouldn't attack Israel, but I can almost guarantee they will THREATEN to attack if their demands are not met. And what do you think will be the attitude in Israel and the world to such threats? Just see how even drawing caricatures is avoided.
