Don't hide behind words, you are clearly better than that. Everything that happens in the world is, in some way, a cause for other things that happen, but stating specifics like you did (with the other examples you mentioned) means more than that.

The question is whether there was a reasonable action Israel could/should have taken that would lead to something better that the Hamas situation. I claim 'no', your comparison implies 'yes'.
