I've always enjoyed the character of Satan, as he is the first true revolutionary in literature. I'd believed that Satanism was dedicated to the ideals of Satan - individualism, freedom, etc. So I find it weird that the CoS would allow itself to be subordinated by arbitrary laws.

You still don’t get it. It’s antithetical to Satanic thought process to commit felonies and end up getting thrown in prison to be deprived of your freedom. It’s also quite easy to follow the law AND still be an individualist. Obeying the law does not equal conformity.

I don't think absolute freedom is feasible because freedom is zero sum: as the saying goes, "freedom for the pike is death for the minnow". But I'd have at least expected the CoS to not enforce laws made by crazy conservative Christians.

It's excluding people from being "active members" if they don't follow certain laws. Isn't that a kind of enforcement?

Okay, well, I can see this conversation is beginning to annoy you & your fellow Satanists, and I don't want that. So I'll end my involvement here. Thanks for teaching me about your beliefs, v interesting, and sorry to @The_Godless_Fox for hijacking your replies section! Peace
