I wonder if the subordinate position of women in MENA has anything to do with the widely-used makeup product kohl, which is made with lead in MENA, which would be illegal in the West. Lead is known to reduce IQ. (I found out about this by reading about the lead-crime hypothesis)

Non-religion primarily spreads non-biologically (horizontally) at the moment because atheists have fewer children (unfortunately). Richard Dawkins and the new atheists are onto something. But I'm worried that differential fertility could reduce the incidence of genes for atheism
