I disagree with that. Populism is a consequence of the establishment forgetting who they work for, of being so far out of touch with the vox populi that they end up having little more than contempt for their inconvenient masters.

Well I don't think that its a mutiny against the idea that the elites are essential mediators. Rather that the establishment have mutinied against the idea that they serve the masses. If you see what I mean.

Sure. But the practical consequence of believing that the elites have mutinied against serving the masses is to cut them out of the equation by using alternative middlemen, such as social media and independent media.
