I'm still not certain that Assad was behind the chemical attack in Syria. He's certainly capable of it, but so are Jaysh al-Islam, the US-backed jihadi group that carried out a chemical attack in Sheikh Maqsood (but which went under the news radar). More investigation needed.

Is there a reason why less harmful compounds can't serve a similar role? I'm guessing lower concentration and therefore larger affected area is possible with nerve agents, but the risks seem high.
