Hi Jenny. Yes, I've read Gould's arguments, and used to be firmly convinced by them. At the moment I have no conclusive belief about race & IQ. But I do think we shouldn't be afraid of exploring it, because the research could prove invaluable in future for narrowing inequality.

I absolutely agree we need to be responsible, and that's why I think we should allow mainstream scientists to explore it. If we don't, then less responsible people will dominate this field instead, and then it really will become fuel for racism.

Those negative stereotypes, not just of blacks but all POC, have endured in the absence of research, and will continue to do so. As for urban academic experiments, they are being used to address inequality. The great thing about IQ is it can be increased. I suggest reading Flynn.

It's not a given that the research *would* imply white superiority. As Flynn shows, IQ disparities can be mitigated in the first 17 years, but social programmes are not yet optimal because research into relationship between race, IQ & environment is heavily restricted.
