At least the hope still exists. Everyone I know has given up all hope of me ever writing a book.

Seems the only solution is to finish it. I've been working on a novel for over 7 years, still nowhere near complete. I've found my biggest obstacle is fear of not being good enough – it stops me even trying.

I’ve been experimenting with a new technique. Basically, I don’t sit down to write my book, but rather to write a rough sketch of the latest scene in a separate .docx file.

This makes me feel more at ease, because the new word doc is not officially part of my novel, so doesn’t have to live up to my ambitions for it. Thus, by working on it, I am not committing to anything. It at least gets me to write.
