The thing that gets me is that pigs apparently do as well on intelligence tests as human toddlers. Imagine a factory where toddlers are crammed in cages to be slaughtered and then have their flesh ground up and sealed inside their intestines so they can be eaten with HP Sauce. 
Concern is not a finite resource. It's possible to question the way we treat animals while also being worried about everything else that you find more pressing.

You're making a logical error here known as the fallacy of relative privation. By this logic, we would only be doing the right thing if we were only ever talking about the absolute worst thing in the world and nothing else.
