I’m lecturing on this at the moment (and using ‘Blade Runner’ as a comparative text). Particularly interesting is both use colour and light to suggest emotion and elicit emotion in the spectator...

I think it has. Bear in mind that Scottie is not a hero - the film doesn't try to glamourise his treatment of Judy/Madeleine. On the contrary, his obsession with her leads to her death. I'd go as far as to say that by exploring male entitlement toward women, Vertigo is feminist.

Interesting POV, I never considered that. The film is indeed open to interpretation. But however we break it down, Scottie is not a heroic character. He's just a rather typical male who tragically loses his mind as a result of Judy's (and most importantly, his own) delusions.

Yes. This can be regarded as a metaphor for Hitchcock himself, who apparently would forcibly try to mould his leading ladies into his fantasies.

He sure didn't feel remorse for endangering her, and this is the point. She became just an image to him, not a person. What he "needed" to happen was for her to become Madeleine. His trying to mould her into Madeline led to her death, as she couldn't be what he wanted her to be.

Your text reminds me of H. H with Lolita. This was the epitome of the hitchcock blond. I've heard several criticisms of kim's lifeless expressions, i don't agree with them however. There's a subtle difference in her two bland faces.
