I actually think I disagree with this on a pretty fundamental level. Words are bound up at a deep level with non word based experience and can be used to meaningfully reconstruct their progenitor experiences in many cases at the experiential level.

Meaningfully reconstruct, yes. Accurately reconstruct, not so much. All labels are simplifications, and inextricably intertwined with connotations that lead to distortions and further generalisations. (cf: weak linguistic relativity).
