The existence of trans people is not evidence that gender is a social construct. On the contrary, it is evidence that gender is an inextricable aspect of our neurology so deeply ingrained that people will suffer the torment of surgical alteration to conform their own bodies to it

People do many things in the name of racial purity, and that's still largely* fictional. *I guess you could debate this point.

I certainly could. I'd also point out that gender identity is generally personal and present at birth, not tribal and learned from environment like racial identity.

Without getting into the weeds of gender identity, my point is that humans will behave in extreme ways for fictional ideas. So I don't think your original assertion is correct.

Feelings are real, though. Gender is ultimately a feeling. The fact that a trans person puts themselves through the ordeal of surgery is enough evidence that they are being compelled to do so by a feeling, which we refer to as their gender identity.

The reason we don't enable anoxerics is that allowing them to indulge their feelings will certainly result in severe harm or even death to them. Trans ops are a lot more ambiguous regarding the risk vs reward. Many feel happier after (though a small number do later regret it).
