It's very ironic! I've listened to a good handful of lectures, interviews, and podcasts with/by him: everything he says seems to encourage people AWAY from the hive mentality and to focus on yourself as an individual.

It reminds me of an obscure British show called Nathan Barley, in which a guy becomes famous by telling people to think for themselves, only to have them form a cult around him, collectively chanting "we are individuals!" in unison as he gently weeps at what he has created.

Nice catch but sooo preachy. I do lean a bit to Monty Python and their heirs. As Peterson says, the Jesters are beneath contempt and the last who are able to speak truth to power before the long night falls. ;)

The preaching is not the point. I only linked to it because it's an amazing portrayal of a man at the end of his tether. The actual point of the movie is about how the man's anger is commodified by a media company.
