It's very ironic! I've listened to a good handful of lectures, interviews, and podcasts with/by him: everything he says seems to encourage people AWAY from the hive mentality and to focus on yourself as an individual.

It reminds me of an obscure British show called Nathan Barley, in which a guy becomes famous by telling people to think for themselves, only to have them form a cult around him, collectively chanting "we are individuals!" in unison as he gently weeps at what he has created.

I'm also a fan if James' work, but in equating Peterson's work with a faddish self-help advice seems disingenuous without at least referring to the Self Authoring program which seems to have had measurable impact, especially on university students. https://www.selfauthoring.com/
