I'm struggling with a question: like you, I came from the left and am now totally disillusioned. Was the left always this blind and I just opened my eyes, or has it deteriorated? The latter vindicates my past self, but the former means ability to escape brainwashing.

Perhaps it has nothing to do with WHAT people on either side of the political spectrum are thinking. Perhaps it's about HOW they are thinking. Historical ages begin, as in digital, the specific conditions for reform, a liberalism, looses its roots. As the left critiques were born in Industrial times, they don't age as well as the "old" traditional critique. They had their day nonetheless.

I don't think so. I think it is a great disillusionment after the failure of the Neo-agenda. Many people thought this agenda was moderate centrism, and so stepped further from the liberal middle and into the waiting arms of the comforting simplicity of various extremists
