I don't see how someone can coherently hold these two views (yet ppl seem to): (1) When women are mocked/insulted online: a bad thing was done to them (2) When men are mocked/insulted online: "nothing bad" was done to them, it's not like they were fired, it's only words online

Basically, the Karpman Drama Triangle dictates what is "bad".
-
In the left's current drama triangle, men and white people are the oppressors, so attacks against them are "justified" as equalising operations. Meanwhile, attacks against the drama triangle's "victims" (women, minorities) "further inequality" and are thus "undeserved", and bad.

You could have a coherent double standard if you said: "Attacking men online is acceptable, but attacking women isn't" But what Yglesias was saying here was more like "Attacking men online doesn't cause harm" which I think is incoherent w/"Attacking women online causes harm"

Yeah, I certainly don't agree with the double standard, but I think folks like Yglesias justify it by recourse to their Karpman Drama Triangle:https://twitter.com/G_S_Bhogal/status/953453661941886976 …
