they often don't. they often just follow the crowd or people that they like a lot, blindly, & then form opinions. Most of us form opinions on those issues, which we didn't even experience personally, but found to be disturbing/great/something else nevertheless

Based on my own personal exp in past, and observation of others at present, as some openly confess, and some dont but it still becomes clear anyway, nope. It's more about who's able to convince them or where the majority or already similar/like minded people go.Indoctrination too

and to some extent, our opinions are also based on how we tend to react to certain situations, like fear, rage, anger, want to get a revenge, pride, humiliation, etc, they do affect how or what opinions we form for certain issues
