Popular white people like Sam Harris and Bill Maher are able to criticize Islam without being taken off the air. But I understand what you mean; accusations of racism are often used to silence criticism of Islam. (Fortunately, people are starting to see through this foolishness.)

Out of curiosity, do you think it's safe for well-known public figures to publicly criticize Islam too? What do you think about the risks of people like Ayaan Hirsi Ali?

She was unique in that she came from a strict Muslim place and was one of the first ex-Muslims to openly criticise Islam, so she was seen as a prime target by extremists. Nowadays, so many people are criticising Islam that extremists are overwhelmed. We now have safety in numbers
