Important to remember that Twitter is not a news source. It’s a recreation ground where people roleplay the personas they think will make them popular, and vent the frustrations of their daily lives by disguising them as political views.

Ppl can choose to be on twitter or not. Unlike some ppl on Facebook the majority of us are concerned with the state of our democracy. We are intelligent enough to discern the facts & lies. Evyis entitled to express their opinions. We can engage with like-minded ppl.

If we chose to block out engagements with individuals who exhibit destructive behavior or try to undermine our efforts it is our right. Sounds like you are trying to add to the effort to discredit the news.

Legit news sources comprise a tiny percentage of most people's feeds. The rest is made up of uninformed individuals who, by virtue of being human, are striving for likes/retweets and other forms of validation.

It's still an amazing news source imo. Anytime a story breaks anywhere in the world, I'm very likely to see it pop up in my feed within minutes. The rest doesn't make it not a news source. Hell, many people are obviously not solely or even mostly concerned with popularity either.

Twitter's noise to signal ratio is extremely high compared to a dedicated news website. And I think most people are interested in having their tweets liked and retweeted. Social validation is a very human desire.

Just seen ine tweet from
@LondonEconomic talking about a Fortune teller's predictions. Dedicated media might not be all its cracked up to be....1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Well, I've never heard of @LondonEconomic so wouldn't trust it. I was referring to the likes of NYT, WP, etc, which, despite their flaws, do generally abide by rigorous journalistic standards.

Replying to @G_S_Bhogal @Intrinsic29 and
Brit, so I rarely read even a smidgeon of them. I know I trust the collective 'sense' on here far more than I do the media. So much of it is crap, they've smeared the entire enterprise.
