Quite a detailed, well thought out and frankly, extremely well worded read. Just one question though Do you think perception of tribal/religious identities are a part of the cycle too? Seeing people as Muslims/Christians/hindus etc?

Yes, I think that seeing people as members of a collective enables the hate to more easily spread to other members of that collective. Guilt by association.

You're asking a lot! The righteousness we get by having an evil enemy is addictive. Our own virtue is elevated by comparison to the monster. Giving up our enemy means we have to take more responsibility for the world.
