Yes, they told me they were interested, made me write 10,000 words over 4 months for them, and then decided I was too left-wing for them. I am not joking.

You emailed saying you had written 13,000 words for a project. We were interested in your thesis but said our max space is 1,500. We’d look at a draft but warned that we can’t pay for anything we don’t use. We ended up suggesting that you go to a newspaper.

When I asked if I could go over the world limit, you told me to file whatever I wanted, and you would then cut it down. So I did. You didn't say it was too much. When Lara finally told me to cut it down, I did as she had asked. *That* was when you told me to go to a newspaper.

You asked if 1586 words was acceptable for a 1500 word limit: I said that we could cut. But I hope we can agree that no one made you spend four months writing 10,000 words. Apart from anything else, the magazine just doesn’t print articles that length. Good luck with your career.

I didn't write a 10,000 word article. It was 10,000 words worth of repeatedly rewriting articles of between 1000 and 5000 words. I had been led to believe by Lara that you were going to publish my work, which was why I spent the time I did. Anyway, it's over now. No hard feelings
