Hmm. Yes, I suppose there will be greater reliance on that, but I think only because the definition of "meme" is changing. It originally meant any concept that is passed from mind to mind, but now seems to be widely used to describe only viral Internet pics, vids, etc.

Yeah. Also new memes are relatively short lived & overused quickly, in the past they were funny for a longer period of time, I think.

Yeah, cuz social media has obliterated all our attention spans and memories, and data-saturation is now a thing. Companies are going to have to meme very hard indeed to be heard above all the noise. Seems we're headed toward a cacophony of competitive memeing!
