Thoughts are deformed by the weight of the past – the accumulated habits and memories that comprise your identity – so you'll clarify your thinking by emptying your mind of its baggage and focusing wholly on the present moment.

Possibly, although "meditation" is a broad term that means different things to different people.

True. Are there other ways to 'shake the shit off'? I can get perspective from a window on a long scenic bus/train journey, but I'm still mulling over the past & present. To be honest, it's pretty cool to get that far. :)

I'm still learning myself so can only guide you so far. But I think it's just a matter of practice. The key is to become aware of your own prejudices so that they don't interfere with your thinking.

Prejudice, in terms of 'pre-judging' everyone you meet? Making assumptions of them & how they think about you? That's a tough one to 'unwire'. But shit, it would be liberating. It does happen though and with beautiful outcomes.

Not just prejudging people, but everything. Proust said: "The true voyage of discovery lies not in new landscapes, but new eyes." Seeing the world as a newborn, without ego, without baggage. It sure is a hard thing to do, but I feel it can be done.

Extremely hard to do & to maintain. Now more than ever perhaps. But, I appreciate the meaning and it's made me think. . It's a path I started once, maybe I should find it again. Thank you :)
