The enforced brevity of tweets encourages vitriolic responses in 2 ways: - It prevents tweeters from qualifying opinions with nuance & context, making them seem generalizing & simplistic - It gives people's opinions a peremptory tone, making tweeters seem arrogant & authoritarian

That's a very interesting concept - since people tend to follow like-minded people, they must get accustomed to interacting only with those who agree with them, so whenever a "sea lion" approaches for civil debate, he seems like a trespasser. Thanks!
