Gurindoor Retweeted The New York Times

Yet another mainstream article implying white people are evil. The bubble that isolates liberal elites from reality should've burst when Trump won. But it's only driven them further into isolation. Privilege isn't being white, privilege is spending your whole life in a safe spacehttps://twitter.com/nytimes/status/929697510494531585 …

Maybe the NYT editors knew they were publishing bullshit but did it purely for business reasons. Compare the interactions that their pointlessly racist article got with an actual substantial article and you can see why media companies are gradually replacing news with trolling.pic.twitter.com/wztrErLQYw

Article doesn't imply that white people are evil. Says black people can't afford to trust white people because by the time you find out they can't be trusted it'll be too late. Fairly uncontroversial I'd have thought given the history of black white relations in the US

"Says black people can't afford to trust white people because by the time you find out they can't be trusted it'll be too late." Implying that millions of people can't be trusted because of the color of their skin is a false, horrible, racist message.

After reading it, I disagree. The article is not BS - it is an intelligent man making reasonable arguments against coming together, because the current political environment has caused him to lose hope.

The article doesn't imply white people are evil. It simply tells minorities to be cautious. A necessary caution.

Identity politics is not fueled by the liberal elite. It is strong, emotional reaction to real identity wrongs that push activist types to overreact - often helping to fuel white nationalism *which -unfortunately- seems to do fine all on its own*

Exactly. Identity politics is inevitable whenever a group is treated unfairly. It also brings about positive social change sometimes. Think of the greater social inclusiveness brought about by the gay rights movement, fueled by anger at discrimination.
