We really need to stop using the words "post-factual" & "post-truth". They imply that life was once factual, when actually human beings have always prioritized utility over truth. The only reason our age seems so dishonest is that we've become much better at recognizing bullshit.

Even that is a factual proposition which is either true or false, probable or improbable. We never stop caring about factual truth.

But if you want to address this from a purely epistemological POV, factual truth is ultimately beyond our grasp. We can only ever understand loose approximations of truth, so have always chosen that which is more useful to survival/procreation than that which is True.
