What the hell is this #WomenBoycottTwitter shizzle? Women who are angry at being silenced on Twitter are going to protest by becoming silent? Isn't that just, like, capitulation?
I don't understand reality any more.

Maybe the one thing this situation doesn't need right now is a dude jumping in with some criticism, hmm?

Don't you think that discriminating against me based on my gender is sexist, though?

Reminding some1 that, regardless of their right to speak, doing so is a jerk move isn't gender discrimination. If u care, LISTEN quietly.

How do I listen when they protest by falling silent?

Shutting up and being uncomfortable with the silence is a good start. Then you might have a very pale idea of what women have experienced

I've experienced discrimination the likes of which you'll never know. But this is not a contest. I want women to speak up about their experiences, not fall silent and expect us to telepathically understand their grievances.

There's the issue. This is not at all about what you want. That's the point. Take a seat

The point is, being silent has never helped any victim of oppression, ever. Protesting being silenced by falling silent is a shit self-defeating strategy, and I have a right to point that out.
