No that's general abuse. I'm talking about political pressure. The type that Diane Abbot got that apparently was sexist.

Who said the political pressure she got was sexist? Everyone was talking about the sexist (and racist) abuse on social media.

The point was being made ad naseuem that she received criticism a white male wouldn't. You know because she can't count.

Because many politicians more senior than her (The Chancellor) flubbed their figures in a worse way and the criticism was nowhere near as intense.

If you're talking about Gordon Brown, he got *annihilated* for his gaffes. So did Ed Miliband. It's got nothing to do with race/gender.

The abuse of Abbott was, with shitty photoshopped memes of gorillas with abacuses being tweeted at her. In the same election campaign, the Chancellor's gaffe was not as prominent as the Shadow Home Sec's, why?

Of course there are racists/misogynists. There always will be. But they're a tiny minority, and the hatred Abbot gets from the country *at large* is a result of her idiocy and flagrant hypocrisy, not her race, else we'd see similar leveled at, say, Chuka Umunna.

The argument is not whether she should be immune to criticism, but only that her share of it was out of proportion to others. Which has been confirmed empirically: https://www.newstatesman.com/2017/09/we-tracked-25688-abusive-tweets-sent-women-mps-half-were-directed-diane-abbott …

You implied that her disproportionate abuse was due to her race/gender. There is no empirical proof of that.

According to the same study, BAME MPs got 35% more abuse and Abbott gets the most, despite not being the most important female politician by far. But whatever, if you're going to deny it, you'll deny it.

If you look at what I said earlier, I admitted racism/sexism exists. The point was whether Abbot's abuse was a result of her race/gender or her words/actions. the fact that she gets so much more abuse even than other BAME MPs shows it can't just be about race/gender.

No, the point was whether that criticism is *stronger* than what another politician would face. And it's true, Hammond was in the exact same situation, messed up numbers, no one even remembers his gaffe. His gaffe hasn't become a "meme" that "he can't count".
