I used to be completely against a burqa ban for precisely this reason, but after living in a place where burqas are everywhere, and seeing the difficulties they pose for women, I've since changed my mind.

But that's not for government to decide. Not for anyone who values EITHER religious freedom or women's rights. It's for WOMEN to decide.

If it was not a security issue, and if it didn't cause health problems and provoke anti-Muslim bigotry, I would agree 100%. But sometimes the government needs to step in to ensure the safety of its own citizens.
