Gun deaths won't convince NRA-types of need for gun control, for they consider gun deaths an acceptable cost of 2nd amend. Better to show 2nd amend is obsolete, with 2 arguments - US govt is not hostile to its citizens. - If it was hostile to its citizens, guns wouldn't stop it.

You can't really convince deontological types of anything, though. The only ones we'd need to convince are those with enough sanity to understand that times change and things become obsolete (I'd categorise within this group deontologists who understand that duty itself changes).
