Yes, governments are threats to their people. But modern, Western, democratic ones are not existential threats; their power is too fragmented. And, even it weren't, the idea that it could be defended against with guns is a relic of a different time, one that no longer holds water

I don't actually think you disagreed with what I said. Separation of powers makes turning the US into a tyranny ruled by brute force a close to impossible task. And if it ever succeeded, guns wouldn't save the people.
