As with everything, people are outraged about that Google memo, while offering no rebuttals to it. Being offended is not a counterargument.

Yup. I hate using terms like "virtue-signalling" but that's exactly what this was; a billboard ad for moral superiority.

In this case, the need for illusion is essentially a need to be accepted by one's peers, by appearing to be accepting of all others.
