If we don't fight believing in "reformed" nonsense without evidence, we are also allowing belief in "radical" nonsense without evidence.

What we reformists want is to use old concepts like 'aql (reason) to again dominate Islamic thinking, as a stepping stone to secularism.

The mu'tazilites saw rationality as the ultimate expression of Allah. This could be an effective way for Muslims to be eased into pluralism.

I don't think that we can make Muslims secular by attacking Islam. This approach will only make them double-down on their beliefs.

Of course, some practices of Islam, such as FGM, stoning, honour killings etc DO need to be attacked with everything we have.
