It's a really important infographic, but I would not put Taliban under "Salafi Jihadist". They're "Deobandi Extremists."

I don't think it's a good infographic at all. It's completely wrong. Plus, ideology doesn't exist along a 2D spectrum.

Also, ISIS isn't really "Sunni Jihadist". They're Ba'athists who use Sunni jihadist ideology to recruit people, justify crimes, erc.

Hmm. But if they use Sunni jihadi ideology, could they be considered Sunni jihadis? I personally would class them as Khawarij Qutbi Salafis.

Ahh. I see where you're coming from. @peterfishman floated the concept of #Zarquism in his book, #TheMasterPlan. I would say that's it.

Yes. Ideologies can be loosely grouped into sets of beliefs, but not really presented linearly, as they are qualitative not quantitative.

The infographic is poor because ideology is multidimensional: we must consider not just degree of Salafism, but tafsir, takfir, 'aql, etc

Even Hamas, would not put under "jihadist". It's more "Sunni Extremists"

Hamas is derived from the Muslim Brotherhood, and shares the same de facto Qutbi ideology as its parent (even if MB claims otherwise).

I also don't see our great fitna causing friends, #HTS, there either. Lost points for not including Syria's #JihadistsduJour.

Nationalism is haram under AQ. If you want a Caliphate, you can't believe in fake borders. ;)

Most consider HTS as just another "wilayah" of AQ. But it's gaining lots of momentum, and could even overshadow & break away from AQ a la IS

Well, that's the thing. AQ is into transnational jihad and HTS is into the near jihad, against the regime. Also, they flirt with nationalism
