How do you explain sati? Is that not a form of misogyny?

No. The reason why Sati was practiced was not because ppl thought low of women. It was because of their superstitious beliefs. 1/2

Hindus thought that the wife will join her husband if she does Sati. In Hinduism's defense, there is nothing in scriptures that backs Sati.2

Also, many people (usually relatives) had agendas. They knew if they force her to do Sati, they'll get the dead man's property.

None of what you've said stops it being a misogynistic cultural practice that is not in any way influenced by Islam.

Ok. Where you see misogyny, I simply see ignorance and suprestition causing suffering to women.

So basically, you judge misogyny in Hinduism and Islam by completely different rules.

Intentions (what the oppressor thinks) matter! Hindus of past didn't think low of women. That matters!

This is a pointless conversation because you will use any reason to condemn Islamic misogyny and any reason to excuse Hindu misogyny. Laters

And isn't that the very purpose of having conversations?

The purpose is to increase understanding. But in this convo I was pointing out instances of Hindu misogyny, u were finding excuses for them.

I defended Hinduism (the scriptures), not Hindus. They should be punished for cultural appropriation of Islamic ideas and practices!
