8. The Xenomorph looked like one the ones from AvP. The Neomorphs were far nastier as they have recognisably human traits.

9. Final comment. Showers kill 2 people in this movie. Because with a murderous alien, that's what you'd take time out for.

For me, only the first two films in the franchise exist. Same with Terminator. It's much better that way.

Alien and Aliens work partly because they're a study in corporate greed. In both cases, those infected are just doing their day jobs.

What I like about them are the atmosphere and the Lovecraftian incomprehensibility of the creatures, Explaining them makes them less scary

Their partial human aspect as well. For me, its the teeth. Always reminded me of Bacon's 3 Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion.

Yes! I think Bacon was one of Giger's inspirations. Also, the weird phallic/vaginal symbolism makes them disturbing in a Freudian way.

The problem with the newer films is that they sacrifice all this subtlety and nuance for pyrotechnics and CGI flying guts.

Agreed. We need a J-Horror Alien movie. Give this to a Hideo Nakata.

You ever seen a film called Noroi? It's slow but profoundly disturbing. Check it out (but be sure to watch all the way to the end!)
