I think it made it reductionist, not concise. It's very important: what do we actually mean by religion?

I nevertheless do raise this point when I ask which religion Peterson and Taleb are talking about (they confusingly use the term in various ways to mean various things).

What you the author mean by "religion" is far more important than a couple more mediocre studies of "religion". The reader needs to know that you have a consistent viewpoint which guided your research.

I would describe religion as a system of beliefs and practices founded on the presumption of the existence of supernatural forces.
